Remembering his early years
This passage comes later in the book, appearing on printed pages 23 and 24.
An old upright piano sat in a room in the old farmhouse, with a picture of his biological mother on top. As a very young boy, he would find himself in that room many times, standing in front of that piano just staring up at her picture. He was trying to figure out and remember in his little mind what his mother was like because he was so very young when she passed away.
Our family would sometimes attend this little country church, but when he was about twelve or thirteen, he decided he wouldn't go anymore. And he didn’t. It's still unknown why he was allowed to make this decision and not made to attend church with his family.
